Primary Schools

Obesity in Primary schools doubles before the children leave for Secondary school.

Statistics show that Primary Schools suffer a 50% rise in obese children during their primary education years. 9.5% of children are obese when they start Primary Schools. When they leave, 19.2% are obese. Should the NHS take a ‘softly softly’ approach in telling parents that their child is obese. See the article on National Child Measurement Programme HERE. Then complete the Express and Star Poll HERE.

As a badminton coach I think more physical education should be taught in schools. Sport in general is more accessible for children. From the figures above, it seems less children are participating or being encouraged to participate.
