On Sunday when the Olympic touch travelled through Solihull I was there with friends manning a stand to promote badminton in Solihull. Not expecting to be that busy we (Alan Spink, wife Sue and son Rob) were pleasantly surprised by the amount of interest at such an early time. With not only children playing trying to play badminton in such windy conditions (over a makeshift net), strangely, some of the parents were far more competitive.
Over the few hours we were there, 50+ folks enquired about badminton. Enquiries were about the following categories, SOCIAL, LADIES, CLUB, JUNIORS and DAVID LLOYDS of which all visitors were provided with some information, even the visitor from Ashby de la Zouch.
So all in all the stand was a success and badminton within Solihull got a bit of a kick start. Here’s hoping all the enquiries turn out to be players.
